Ellen Downe
Ellen Downe is a Graduate of Georgian College, where she majored in Textile Design. She has explored several different art forms over the years, including fibre arts, quilting, painting on tinware, and more recently, painting on canvas.
Ellen's current work is done mostly in acrylic, although she plays with water-based oils as well. She prefers to paint right over the edges of her canvases, so that framing is not essential.
This artist prefers realistic subjects; playing with the patterns in flowers, the challenge of painting a still life that looks as though you can reach in and pick an apple off the canvas, local landscapes that have relevance to her clientele.
